FAQs

WHAT DAYS DO THE LEAGUES PLAY?

Below details the days each league is scheduled to play.  Please note, this is subject to change depending on court conditions/availability.  Match schedules will be distributed closer to the league’s start date of 3/30/2020.
Women:
  • 2.5 – Friday AM
  • 3.0 – Thursday AM or Sunday PM
  • 3.5 – Tuesday AM or Wednesday PM
  • 4.0 – Monday AM or Thursday PM
  • 4.5 – Wednesday PM
Men
  • 3.0 – Wednesday PM
  • 3.5 – Monday PM
  • 4.0 – Thursday PM
  • 4.5 – Tuesday PM
HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?
  • $69.30 covers section, team & tennis link fees, as well as required VBTPA membership.
  • Entire fee is paid on TennisLink when you register for your USTA team.
  • If you are not a current member of USTA, expect to pay $44 in addition to the above. Current USTA membership is required before you will be able to register for your team.

CAN I PLAY ON A TEAM ABOVE MY RATING?

Players may play only one NTRP level above their current computer rating or self-rating. There is no limit to the number of players per team who “play up”, unless it is a 2-team league, in which case each team must maintain its roster with at least 40% of its players at the designated level of play.

IF WE WIN OUR LEAGUE FLIGHT, WHAT NEXT?

Depending on number of teams in your level, your team may be required to play in the local league playoff to determine which team will “move on.”  League winners will be eligible to play in Regional Championships.  Winners of Regionals move onto Sectionals.  Sectional Champions are eligible to play at Nationals.  Below are dates:

  • Local playoffs: Listed on the match schedules distributed closer to start of league.
  • Virginia Regional Championships: July 10-12, 2020 (.0s) and July 24-26, 2020 (.5s)
  • Mid-Atlantic Sectional Championships: August 7-9, 2020
  • National Championships: TBA
